SUMMER COVERAGE TIPS
4 ways to make sure you’re prepared this storm season
Texas summers can be unpredictable. Here are four things worth reviewing now — before a storm rolls through.
🌩️ Know your wind & hail deductible
Many Texas policies have a separate wind/hail deductible — often a percentage of your home’s insured value. Make sure you know what yours is before you need to file a claim.
📸 Document your belongings now
Walk through your home and take a video inventory of your valuables. Store it in the cloud. This documentation is invaluable if you ever need to file a contents claim.
🏗️ Check on recent home improvements
Added a deck, finished a basement, or upgraded your kitchen this year? Let us know — your coverage should reflect the increased value of your home.
🚨 Know how to reach us fast
Save our number in your phone right now: (817) 345-0155. In the event of a loss, call us first — we’ll guide you through every step of the claims process.
DID YOU KNOW?
Texas ranks among the top states for hail damage claims. The good news: when you’re properly covered and you know what to do, most claims are resolved smoothly and quickly. We’re here to make sure you’re in that position.
AFTER THE STORM
What to do if your home is damaged this summer
If a storm causes damage to your home, here’s a step-by-step guide to protect yourself and your claim:
1. Stay safe first. Don’t enter your home if there’s structural damage, downed power lines, or standing water. Wait for the all-clear.
2. Document everything before touching anything. Photos and videos of all damage — inside and out — are your most important asset in the claims process.
3. Make temporary repairs to prevent further damage. Cover broken windows or roof damage with tarps. Keep every receipt — these costs are typically reimbursable.
4. Call Jason before calling the carrier. We can help you understand your coverage, set expectations, and advocate for you throughout the process.
5. Beware of storm chasers. After major storms, contractors show up uninvited. Never sign an Assignment of Benefits before talking to us — it can affect your claim.
IMPORTANT REMINDER Assignment of Benefits (AOB) agreements sign over your insurance rights to a contractor. This can complicate or reduce your claim payout. Always call us before signing anything after a loss.
